Concept
My objective was to create a ski binding that not only captures performance data with integrated GPS and sensor technology, but also provides anti-theft security. I wanted to empower skiers to track their progress and refine their skills while enjoying the peace of mind that comes from knowing their equipment is protected.
Creative strategy
These bindings aren't for the average jerry. I designed them for those who are serious about skiing, people who want to level up, develop their skills, and push their limits on every run. My creative strategy was to fuse cutting edge technology with a bold performance driven aesthetic, ensuring that every detail, from advanced tracking to anti theft security, speaks to the competitive spirit and relentless drive of serious skiers.
Form
The form of Boreal ski bindings is intentionally designed with a brutalist aesthetic, embodying safety, strength, and reliability. The angular, solid shape conveys a sense of protection and durability, ensuring you can trust these bindings on the toughest slopes.
Boreal app
The app is designed to be your companion on the slopes. It provides real time feedback on your runs by showing stats like speed, distance, and overall performance, while also alerting you if your skis are moved unexpectedly when you're in the lodge at lunch. In addition, the app includes a gamified element that lets you compete with other Boreal users by earning daily achievements such as skiing a new trail every time you get off the lift or discovering a hidden tree run.
